A Saudi wholesaler should confirm the admissible engine condition before negotiating a container. Used, cleaned and refurbished are different descriptions. The correct one depends on the actual work and evidence for the offered engines, not a label chosen to make customs clearance appear easier.
Check the major-component conditions before deposit
ZATCA’s spare-parts guidance conditions exceptions for major used components on cleaning, packing, refurbishment marking and conformity evidence. ZATCA published guidance.
Ask your Saudi importer and conformity provider to confirm the currently applicable route for the precise engine, condition and HS classification. Clarify whether SABER or other certificates apply and who is authorised to issue them. Do not use whole-vehicle age rules as a substitute for this component check. If the evidence cannot be supplied, stop that proposed shipment before booking.
Do not relabel an ordinary used engine as refurbished
Cleaning the exterior and manually rotating the crankshaft do not establish rebuilding or refurbishment. Ask what work was performed, by whom, and which records support the declared condition. The same description should appear on the offer, invoice, labels and supporting certificates.
For LSVANT’s ordinary used-engine offers, standard checks are manual cranking and photos. Saudi supply must be assessed against the importer’s confirmed requirements; we do not present that ordinary check as Saudi conformity approval or promise that every catalogue engine is eligible.
Define مكينة كاملة in the quotation
A request for a complete engine needs an included-parts list. Confirm intake and exhaust assemblies, fuel equipment, turbo if the particular version uses one, sensors, harness, ECU, starter and alternator as applicable. Separate engine and gearbox quantities. Retain full manufacturer suffixes and unit identifiers.
Ask for close photos of the actual identifiers, mounting points and connectors. A shared family name does not prove interchangeability across versions or local vehicle specifications. Record any missing parts and their responsibility before approving the price.
| Before committing | Evidence to obtain |
|---|---|
| Product eligibility | Importer/provider confirmation of condition, classification and applicable approval route. |
| Condition declaration | Actual refurbishment work where required; supporting certificates and permanent markings. |
| Unit acceptance | Full code, unit photos, included/missing parts and agreed inspection results. |
Compare delivery after the eligibility check
Name Jeddah, Dammam or the intended receiving location only after the forwarder confirms the proposed service. Separate goods, packing, freight, insurance, conformity work, destination handling and inland delivery. Keep document deadlines and responsibility for any corrective work in the written order scope.
Prepare a wholesale enquiry
Send the engine list, quantities, required package, Saudi destination and written import/conformity requirements first. LSVANT will assess whether the offered supply can meet that scope before quoting an order. Availability does not establish import eligibility.
Questions before ordering
Is a cleaned used engine automatically a compliant refurbished engine?
No. Refurbishment and conformity claims need their own work records and accepted documents.
Should I pay before the certification route is clear?
Resolve eligibility, evidence and the parties’ responsibilities before committing funds for the shipment.
