A model list helps you start an inquiry. It does not tell you the condition of a particular used engine. Before comparing offers, connect every photo, video and written detail to the actual unit you may receive.
1. Match the code and application
Request a readable engine code or nameplate photo. Send your vehicle model, year, market and any OE reference you have. Ask the seller to confirm the configuration being offered, including transmission pairing, drivetrain, sensors and mount differences that may affect fitment. If a detail is uncertain, record it as unresolved before payment.
2. Ask for current, unit-specific photos
Request clear views from multiple sides and close photos of the code, connectors, mounting points and any visible damage or missing components. A warehouse overview helps show the sourcing environment, but it cannot replace photos of the engine being quoted.
3. Understand what a video shows
If inspection or running footage is available, ask for a video tied to the offered unit and for the seller to explain what was checked. A running clip may show that an engine starts and operates in that moment; it does not prove internal condition, future service life or the absence of hidden faults. Ask which tests were performed and whether results can be documented.
4. List the included and excluded parts
Confirm whether the quotation is for a complete assembly, long block or another scope. Check the alternator, starter, injectors, turbocharger, intake and exhaust parts, wiring, ECU, mounts and transmission as relevant. Ask for exclusions in writing; the same model code can be quoted with different accessories.
5. Keep the commercial record clear
Before ordering, align the unit reference, photos, known issues, included parts, quantity, price, packing, inspection window and after-sales terms in the written quotation or sales documents. If the offer changes, request updated evidence for the new unit.
