Importing Japanese-brand used engines from China involves separate questions about engine identity, shipment origin and Tanzanian conformity procedures. Keep those questions separate when preparing a wholesale order for Tanzania or a named onward destination.
Separate engine brand from shipment origin
TBS publishes PVoC scope, exemptions and inspection information for imported goods. TBS — Import and export control.
A Toyota or Nissan name does not by itself establish the engine’s manufacturing origin, dismantling country or export country. Give your agent the actual goods description and origin evidence available. Ask which current TBS route applies to goods shipped from China. A notice addressed to used products from Japan should not be assumed to govern a China shipment solely because the engine brand is Japanese.
Resolve conformity questions before freight booking
Have your agent confirm the applicable classification and document route against the proposed consignment.
Ask whether pre-shipment conformity assessment or another inspection route is required, which authorised provider handles the China supply country and which documents must exist before departure. Keep the written answer with the pro forma invoice. Do not promise a fixed clearance time or quote taxes before the classification and value are established.
Name the final destination, not only Dar es Salaam
Port arrival and delivery to an inland customer are different quotation scopes.
If the order goes through Dar es Salaam, specify Tanzania domestic import or the named transit destination. Ask the forwarder to separate sea freight, port handling and onward delivery. The consignee, route and paperwork should match that plan. For CIF, name the port and confirm insurance; do not assume the price includes inland transport or customs clearance.
Prepare an engine-and-gearbox receiving manifest
A mixed order needs separate identifiers for engines, gearboxes and loose accessories.
Record full codes and version details, unit references, quantities, agreed accessories, photos and package identifiers. Keep AT/MT and 2WD/4WD requirements visible without treating them as an automatic fitment guarantee. Check replacements against their own photos and records, then carry the approved list into packing and receiving.
How LSVANT supports the purchasing process
LSVANT offers remote purchasing and Guangzhou warehouse visits by appointment. New wholesale orders start from 10 engines. Review individual photos and video records before shipment; standard checks are manual cranking and photo records, not compression, bench or startup tests. Any additional testing is agreed for the particular units. Each used engine needs its own confirmation, even when codes match.
For an engine-and-gearbox batch, define the parts included before preparing the manifest: Engine assembly and accessories checklist.
Prepare a wholesale enquiry
- Company, importer/wholesaler role and reply contact
- Full engine code, version suffix and quantity per line; reference ID if selected
- Vehicle model/year and VIN/chassis if available
- AT/MT, 2WD/4WD; gearbox code if known
- Engine only or engine + gearbox; complete engine/long block and accessories required
- Destination country, named port/receiving place and FOB/CIF scope
- Required unit photos and inspection evidence; mark unknown details “To confirm”
We review the purchasing list, available units and quotation scope. Availability is confirmed for the offer; quote validity does not reserve stock.
