What Is Included in a Used Engine Assembly? A Wholesale Buying Checklist

Compare used-engine assemblies and long blocks. Confirm ECU, wiring, accessories, unit photos and packing before requesting a wholesale quote from China.

For importers and distributors buying used engines from China, the description “complete engine” is only a starting point. A useful quotation identifies the actual unit and lists the parts supplied with it. Two offers for the same engine code can have different accessory sets, making the headline prices difficult to compare.

Complete assembly or long block: confirm the scope

Ask the supplier to describe the assembly in writing. For a long block, specify which mechanical parts, covers and oil pan are present. For an assembly with accessories, identify every additional part you need. Keep “included”, “not included” and “to be confirmed” separate; a photograph showing a component does not establish that it is included in the price.

An accessory checklist for your quotation

Part or groupWhat to confirm
ECU and engine wiringIncluded or excluded; part references and connector photos where available.
Intake and exhaust equipmentManifolds, throttle equipment and sensors required for your application.
Fuel system and turbo equipmentWhich pumps, injectors, rails or turbo components are supplied, where applicable.
Starter and alternatorWhether each unit is included and which mounting arrangement is offered.
Oil pan, covers and mounting bracketsActual shape and equipment against your vehicle requirement.
Flywheel or flexplate; gearboxList these separately. An AT/MT catalogue label does not include a gearbox automatically.

Keep every engine code on its own line

Build the buying list by full engine identifier, quantity and vehicle requirement. Add transmission, drive configuration, model year and destination where known. For a mixed shipment, confirm the included parts separately for each code; do not copy one accessory list across the entire batch.

Illustrative request only — not an inventory offer: 2TR × 10; 1NZ × 15; 4JB1 × 20. Specify accessories for each code, then add vehicle details and destination.

Match the evidence to the offered units

Request a readable engine marking, views of the actual unit and close-ups of the agreed accessories. Where running or inspection video is available, confirm that it identifies the same unit. Separate visible condition from documented tests: exterior photos alone do not establish internal condition or a successful running test.

Confirm packing and identification

Agree how loose accessories will be identified and packed, and how each engine will be matched to the packing list. For a mixed batch, clear identifiers help the receiving warehouse check codes and quantities. Define the packing and freight scope in the quotation; shipment terms and after-sales conditions should be confirmed for the order.

Frequently asked buying questions

Is the engine code enough to confirm compatibility?

Use it to start the search. The full identifier, vehicle details and the equipment on the actual offered engine still require technical review.

Does an AT reference include an automatic gearbox?

Only if the written quotation lists the gearbox as included. Confirm ECU, wiring and other accessories in the same way.

Should I ask for photos before comparing prices?

Yes. Compare offers after clarifying the supplied parts and the available evidence for the actual units.

Send your engine requirements

Send your full engine codes, quantities, vehicle details, required accessories and destination. LSVANT’s sourcing team will review the request and check the actual available units before quoting. A submitted inquiry is a request for review; it does not reserve inventory.

Ford Performance’s M-6006-M50DH listing explicitly excludes wiring/PCM and the alternator. This manufacturer example shows why the supplied-part list matters; it is not a LSVANT used-engine offer. Ford Performance M-6006-M50DH
